Casey and I spend part of a day in Siem Reap to go see the floating village.  It was amazing to see so many people living like this.

Here are more photos of the temples.  It was very cool to be able to see the Angkor temples and spend a good three days exploring a lot of them.  They are all over Siem Reap and are truly amazing.  They are so large and there are so many of them.  The only thing that would have made it better was if there was less tourists.  

So I know it has been a while since I updated the blog.  Casey and I are in Laos right now and the internet is horrible.  It takes me hours to upload a few of my photos to the blog.  So it has been a slow process recently.  When we were in Cambodia we went and saw the Angkor Temples.  Here are some photos from our three day trip around Siem Reap to see some of the temples.

Casey and I recently went to the Killing Fields in Phnom Penh.  It was an intense and amazing experience.  During 1975-1979 when the Khmer Rouge were in power, different estimates say anywhere from 1.4 to 2 million people were murdered and buried in some 20,000 mass graves.  The Khmer Rouge saved ammunition by carrying out the executions using knifes or stabbing weapons and poison. When I was in Colorado a friend of mine showed me a documentary on the Khmer Rouge and one man's goal of trying to find out why this happened, why so many people died in the killing fields.  In the documentary the director interviews multiple farmers who were forced by the Khmer Rouge to kill many innocent people.  One farmer explains and demonstrates how he would slice, or if his hand got tired, would just stab victims throats while they were laying on their stomach with their hands bound behind their back.  I think it was an amazing documentary that shows you the reality of what happened, which many people are completely unaware of.  After seeing this documentary and then actually going to were it happened was truly surreal.  It is difficult to describe what it was like being right there where so many innocent people were murdered.   I just know it was an extreme experience, and one that I will never forget.  

These are more photos taken at the Killing Fields.  It was surreal to be right there were thousands of innocent people were brutally murdered.   

The sign says," Magic Tree.  The tree was used as a tool to hang a loud speaker to make sound to avoid the moan of victims while they were being executed"  This was done so that new prisoners that had been brought to the Killing Fields to be executed would hear music playing and not the victims screaming and moaning from being stabbed or having their throats slit. 

This photo shows many holes were thousand of people were brought to be executed and then buried in one of the many holes.  

In some parts of the Killing Fields you can see bones on the ground from when it rains.  The rain brings up pieces of bone and clothing sometimes.
